Taco Bell announced the Beefy Potato-rito is returning to menus later in April.
The $1 burrito consists of potatoes, beef, and nacho cheese covered in Chipotle sauce and wrapped in a tortilla. It launches at Taco Bell locations across the US on April 15, but beta rewards members can buy them immediately.
Taco Bell first launched the Potato-rito in 2017, one of many items to come and go on the chain’s frequently changing menu. In March, Taco Bell brought back potatoes after months of protests from fans, along with another former limited-time offering, the Quesalupa.
Taco Bell frequently changes its menu, though rollout of new items slowed slightly during the pandemic. Despite outcries from fans last year, the leaner menu proved to be a smart decision as Taco Bell shifted to more drive-thru orders, and sales grew 5% in the quarter following the menu change.
Fans of the chain are seemingly dedicated to campaigning for their favorite items to come back on social media. Taco Bell’s tweet announcing the return of the Potato-rito had dozens of replies. Some responses were celebrating the Potato-rito’s return, but nearly all requested other discontinued items be brought back, including Mexican Pizza and Nacho Fries.
The Potato-rito is on the menu for a limited time, though Taco Bell hasn’t said exactly how long it will be available. Other potato offerings are on the permanent menu (for now).
