Asbury Investment Management (AIM), a Registered Investment Advisor, utilizes a completely data-driven approach that focuses on delivering stock market-like returns with bond market-like risk. AIM’s investment methodologies are driven by Asbury Research, an independent research provider that has been providing professional and individual investors with quantitatively-driven market intelligence since 2005. Asbury Research is the creation of John Kosar, CMT, who began his career in the 1980s in the trading pits of the Chicago futures exchanges.
The initial idea to launch AIM came after years of John being asked by Asbury Research subscribers to manage their money for them. Our focus is to fulfil a common need of many older investors who find it necessary to participate in the stock market to produce a meaningful return, but can’t afford to live through the drawdowns like they could when they were younger.
All of our investment decisions are driven by facts (market data) rather than by our prognostications (guesses) of what might happen in the future. When the data changes, our investment choices change right with it. This approach allows us be much more agile in the market, and this added agility results in drastically reduced drawdowns during market declines.
Asbury Research’s primary Tactical model, the Correction Protection Model (CPM), helps AIM to determine when to be invested. CPM’s primary objective is to protect investor assets during stock market corrections but to otherwise remain invested, taking advantage of equity prices’ historical propensity to move higher over time. This wealth preservation tool was initially developed following the 2008 Financial Crisis, to protect investors from another similar market collapse.
Our processes have been developed to capture 75% of the upside of the S&P 500 while experiencing only 25% of the downside. In addition, we are designed to keep any drawdowns to the portfolio in the mid-single digits. Get stock like returns with bond like risk.
